I’m sorry for using ‘nonsense’ in reaction to Ashimeru’s omission from Black Stars squad – Asamoah Gyan

  Former captain of the Black Stars, Asamoah Gyan, has apologised for his unsavoury comment while lamenting the absence of Majeed Ashimeru from the senior national team. The 27-man list was released by head coach Otoo Addo on Tuesday, but the midfielder’s name was not drafted in. Reacting to this, the former striker of the national team said Majeed Ashimeru, whom he sees as one of Ghana’s best midfielders, could not have been left out in time when the  Black Stars  seek to restore the hope Ghanaians have for the senior national team. “This guy Majeed Ashimeru is the best midfielder in Ghana, after Thomas Partey. Period. I have kept quiet on this but this nonsense must stop. Robbery gone wrong after Uber driver arranged with robbers to steal father's dollars

  Police are investigating a foiled robbery incident involving an ride hailing app driver believed to be in his 30s and allegedly connived with armed robbers to steal his father’s dollars . The robbery went wrong after the suspected driver called a supposed assailant to arrange an operation to rob his father, who had just returned from the United States. Stephen Gyenu, 30, mistakenly placed a call to assailants to arrange robbers to steal his father’s money. Apparently, one of the ‘robbers’ he called was one of his co-tenants at Lomnava, near Lapaz, a suburb of Accra. In a video chanced on by Akoma FM, Stephen Gyenu is captured confessing to the issue. Police are still unraveling the case to bring to light persons involved in the crime chain. Below is the link to the video:

Ellembelle: Illegal miners 'use' juju to impregnate teenagers — Social Welfare Director

  The Ellembelle District Assistant Social Welfare Director, Jonas Kabutey, is suggesting that illegal miners, popularly known as galamseyers, in the area are using various charms to impregnate teenagers. Speaking in an interview with Nhyriaba Paa Kwesi Simpson host of  Connect FM 's  Omanbapa  morning show, Mr. Jonas Kabutey stated that most of the young girls affected by the charm are currently pregnant with no one taking responsibility and, in some cases, “the fingered galamseyer will be no where to find”. “My office has recorded several cases of teenage pregnancies in Ellembelle. “I have followed up on some of the cases and investigations suggest that the illegal miners and tricycle riders have been using charms to have affairs with the young ladies,” he indicated. School feeding programme not suspended – Mrs. Quashigah chases Adom FM to apologise

  The Management of the Ghana School Feeding Programme (GSFP) has condemned a false media report by Adom FM and Adomonline suggesting that the feeding programme which provides daily meals to over 3.4 million deprived public basic school pupils has been suspended indefinitely by the government. According to the National Coordinator of GSFP, Mrs. Gertrude Quashigah, the report by the Akan cluster of Multimedia Group is false and highly misleading. She noted that the false publication has the tendency to cause fear and panic among the beneficiary pupils, deprived parents and caterers working under the programme. “No! Government has not put Ghana School Feeding Programme on hold,” she stated.   Minister of Information has categorically explained that he hasn’t said on record that the government’s flagship programme of Free Senior High School (SHS) will be reviewed. Minister of Information Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, speaking on  Akoma FM’ s current affairs and political show  GhanAkoma  Tuesday, March 22, explained that “I have never said anywhere that Free SHS will be reviewed but the technical teams are going through the 2022 budget to make some possible adjustments”. The revision of government flagship programmes came to light after a three-day crunch cabinet meeting at Peduase Lodge to proffer solutions to heal Ghana’s economic hardship. C/R: Two pregnant women killed after galamsey pit caves in at Denkyira-Ayanfuri

  At least two pregnant illegal miners have perished after a galamsey pit collapsed on them. The tragedy occurred at Denkyira- Ayanfuri, a Community in the Upper Denkyira West District of the Central Region. The names of the two casualties, are yet to be known. The bodies of the two middle-aged women, believed to be Northerners, were trapped, while other miners managed to escape unscathed. A joint effort by the Ayamfuri police and residents led to the retrieval of the bodies. The miners were said to be chiseling rocks to get gold in an abandoned pit by Perseus Mining Ltd called phase three but it, unfortunately, caved in. The bodies of the deceased have since been deposited at the Dunkwa Government Hospital mortuary for preservation and autopsy. Meanwhile, Police have launched investigations into the matter. The deceased aged 35 and 25 respectively were both 5 months old pregnant.

  The Member of Parliament (MP) for Pru East, Dr. Kwabena Donkor has called on government to consider the plight of the Ghanaian people and scarp some taxes on petroleum products to bring down the prices of fuel at the pumps. On Wednesday, March 16, 2022, the fears of Ghanaians came to pass when the prices of fuel at the pumps jumped from a little over GHS8 to cross the GHS10 mark per litre. With both private and commercial drivers now buying fuel at an unprecedented high prices, it is anticipated that the conditions of living in the country would get harder.   Black Stars legend, Stephen Appiah has issued a press release rubbishing accusations that he in the past had sexual intercourse with controversial social media personality Abena Korkor. Miss Korkor in a recent post on her Twitter page included former national team heroes Asamoah Gyan and Stephen Appiah in the list of men she has slept with. She claimed that the pair sucked in bed and must up their game. Barker-Vormawor finally released

  #FixTheCountry convener Oliver Barker-Vormawor has been released from police custody. He was let free on Thursday, 17 March 2022 after having been in detention for over a month. The activist was released following the execution of his bail. Despite having been granted bail on Wednesday, he spent an extra night in police custody to “await the completion of the bail processes by the High Court Registrar,” a statement issued by the Ghana Police Service indicated. One of the sureties attached to the bail was to deposit documents covering a landed property. However, the Registrar of the court was “unable to proceed with the execution of the bail until a response was received from the Lands Commission,” after Mr Barker-Vormawor had presented the documents to the landed property. The Police urged individuals who are unfamiliar with these “legal processes to take note and be circumspect with their comments on these matters.” The court earlier granted the activist a GHS2-million bail. Supreme Court adjourns Assin North MP injunction application to March 29

  The Supreme Court has adjourned to March 29, the hearing of an injunction application against James Gyekye Quayson, Assin North Member of Parliament. The seven-member panel adjourned the injunction following the filing of a review application in relation to the ruling of the court on March 8 and application for stay of proceedings. Quayson's Lawyer, Mr Tsatsu Tsikata, informed that Court about the two applications when the Court resumed sitting. The Court had formally slated today, Wednesday to commence hearing of the injunction application filed by Mr Michael Ankomah Nimfah, a resident of the constituency against the MP. On March 8, the Supreme Court ordered the legislator to file his defence in the case after it had ruled that the MP had been sufficiently given notice of the case following publication of a substituted service in the Daily Graphic Newspaper.
